Using Eurocard with the Freja eID app

Eurocard holders are offered to use the Freja eID app for increased security when authenticating an online purchase.

In this article you can read more on how this works and the benefits it brings for you as a Eurocard user.

Why does Eurocard introduce Freja?

Cardholders without a Nordic social security number, who currently use SMS one time password when logging into the Eurocard app, are encouraged to use the eID from Freja for improved security.

Once registered with the Freja app and after the first authentication in the Eurocard app you have a safe and compliant verification method when logging into the Eurocard app. Going forward you can enable biometrics as a convenient login method.

What is Freja?

Freja is a government and EU-approved electronic identity (eID). An eID is a reusable digital identity which can be used for online authentication and electronic signatures. Freja is connected to several hundred different online services – both governmental and private – to which you can identify securely with the eID-app.

Freja is owned by the company Freja eID Group AB (publ) which is listed on Nasdaq First North Premier Growth Market.

How do I register for Freja?

Getting the Freja app does not cost anything, and you register with a few simple steps:

When you are approved, you can start using Freja eID with the Eurocard app and you will only have to do the Freja registration once.

How do I use Freja eID?

You can use the Freja app to log in to the Eurocard app. Once logged in, you can enable biometric verification for online purchases or continue using the eID from Freja each time you log in.
