With the constant headlines of scams on the Internet and identity theft, it’s easy to become so scared of being online as to start actively avoiding the digital world altogether to protect yourself.

Here are some tips on how to be safer online with Freja:

1. Get an ID protection

Freja eID Plus includes a free ID protection that alerts you via the mobile app and email when it detects that someone has changed your officially registered address. This is most often how identity theft begins and with Freja’s ID protection you can act immediately to protect yourself.

2. Block unauthorised address changing

On Skatteverket’s website you can block unauthorised address changing. Log in to Skatteverket with Freja eID Plus to activate it so that you can be the only person that can change your address with the help of Freja.

3. Activate Shared Control

Shared Control is a feature in Freja eID that allows you to link your Freja eID account with someone you trust. Every time that you would log in or sign something with Freja, the other person also receives a message on their phone to approve or decline that action. When it comes to Internet security, another pair of eyes can never hurt especially when it comes to detecting fraud or scams.

4. Take control with My Pages

Log in to Freja’s My Pages, and choose with online services you want to have accessible with Freja. If you deactivate a service in My Pages then nobody – not even you – can access it with Freja until you log in to My Pages again to reactivate it.

5. Avoid services that require a password

Passwords are the weakest link in the digital world and don’t even come near to the security offered by electronic identities. If you can choose between a service that offers login with an electronic identity or one with passwords, you should always choose the former. If you are not given a choice, you could get in touch with the service and request that they add the option to log in with Freja eID.
