The Swedish Pensions Agency has joined the the System of free choice 2017 E-identification (Valfrihetssystem 2017 E-legitimering). This means that the first step has been taken to allow its users to identify themselves with Freja eID+ to the authority’s digital services.
The Swedish Pensions Agency (Pensionsmyndigheten) is tasked with administering and paying out the public pension but also informing about the pension for pension savers, prospective pensioners and pensioners.
Freja eID+ is Sweden’s only mobile e-ID that has been reviewed and approved for the governmental quality mark “Svensk e-legitimation” by DIGG – The Agency for Digital Government. In order to be part of the System of free choice 2017 E-identification (Valfrihetssystem 2017 E-legitimering), the e-ID must comply with the requirements of the governmental quality mark. Public and private actors can rely on e-IDs that have the quality mark “Svensk e-legitimation” and users can feel confident that it is a secure ID.
The System of free choice works so that citizens control which e-ID that is to be used when logging in, and thus which supplier must be paid by the contracting authority for the identity certificate. Currently, Freja eID+ is the only available e-ID in the System of free choice 2017 E-identification.
Johan Henrikson, CEO Verisec comments:
“In recent months, we have seen a large number of authorities and municipalities join, or prepare accession, to Freja eID. For every authority that joins, Sweden takes a small step towards more sustainable digitization. The fact that we up until now, in principle, have been dependent on a single solution regarding e-legitimization in has been a hindrance in public Sweden’s important digitization work. We are proud to, through Freja eID, be able to contribute with the key factor that many have been waiting for in order to be able to take the digitalisation to the next step. ”
