You may have seen this symbol in the Freja eID app, on our website or at a public authority and thought about what it meant? Here we’ll tell you why it may be worth keeping an eye out for it.
In Sweden, there are no government e-IDs for citizens. Instead, we have a system where DIGG – the agency for digital government – establishes strict requirements for security, accessibility and technical standards regarding electronic identities. If you have an e-ID that can prove that you meet these requirements, you will receive the government approved quality mark ‘Svensk e-legitimation‘. And that is exactly what the symbol stands for; it is the graphic representation of the quality mark.
Why use a quality-labeled e-identification?
Since it has been reviewed and undergoes regular audits, both users and services can trust a quality-marked e-ID, in other words, it is both secure and user-friendly.
What quality-marked e-IDs are there?
There are two e-IDs that have been approved for the quality mark. One is a card-based e-ID from Svenska Pass, which you can obtain through the Swedish Tax Agency. The other, Freja eID, is a mobile e-identification.
Where can I use a quality marked eI-D?
It is mainly government agencies, municipalities and public healthcare organisations that require a quality marked e-ID, but there are also private services that have this requirement.
How can I get one?
When you get Freja eID and register an ID-document you can use it instantly to a variety of services such as Studentkortet, ATG and Resurs Bank. To get the quality mark on your Freja eID you need to do a physical ID-check at one of our 2000 agents in Sweden. It takes just a short while and when its done you will see the quality mark appearing on your ID-card in the app. This means that you now can access services like 1177.se, the Tax Authority, the Public Employment Service and a range of other public e-services.
