Who Can Have Freja?
Anyone can download Freja and create an account with an email. However, their experience will be greatly limited as most of Freja’s features require a higher level of registration.
This page is about who is eligible to get Freja, for more information about registration we also have a full guide that explains the process in more detail.
Who Can Add their ID Document to Freja
Adding an ID document to Freja is a higher level of registration where we create your digital ID card and open up more features in Freja.
Swedish citizens can register with their ID document as Freja is primarily intended to be used in Sweden. Additionally, there are 167 countries and territories who can use their biometric passport to register a Freja account.
Who Can Have Freja+
Swedish Citizens Living in Sweden
All Swedish citizens living in Sweden above the age of 5 can have Freja+. All you need is a valid ID document issued in Sweden: passport, national ID card, driving licence or Skatteverket ID card.
We recommend that you use your Swedish passport or national ID card to get Freja+ immediately. If you use another ID, your driving licence for example, to get Freja+ you will need to visit one of our agents in Sweden for a final security check.
Important note about using Freja+ for eIDAS:
Users who got Freja+ directly via passport or national ID cannot use Freja+ for eIDAS.
Unfortunately this is not related to Freja, rather the Swedish government agency responsible for electronic identities, so we cannot resolve it ourselves.
If you got Freja to use for eIDAS, we recommend you delete your account and register a new one but this time use your driving licence for registration. For Freja+ you will then also need to do a quick in-person security check with one of our agents.
Are You Living Abroad?
Do You Have a Protected Identity?
Yes, you can get Freja and Freja+, but you must use a Swedish passport to register. For Freja+ you must bring your passport to the ATG agent for the identity check.
Important note – the agent is only verifying your identity in-person, no data is being collected nor are any lookups being performed.
When using Freja we will not share protected information such as your address. All other data that is shared requires your explicit consent in the app each time you do a transaction. This means you have full control of the data you are sharing and to whom.
