The Growth of People in Debt

Debts at Kronofogden – the Swedish Enforcement Authority – continue to grow. It has increased by 50% in the past 10 years and amounts to just over 101 billion SEK.

While a lot of the indebted are low-income earners, the group aged between 26-34 accounts for the biggest increase. This cohort’s amount of debt growth is a huge 107%. Further, the greatest growth of debt within this group is 153% for young women over this 10-year period, growth that has mainly been attributed to – online shopping.
