- We are ending support for the Swedish driving license and Tax ID card on 21 December 2026;
- After this date, it will no longer be possible to get Freja+ by visiting a Freja agent;
- You will still be able to get Freja+ by adding an additional biometric ID to Freja;
- If you are already registered with one of these IDs but don’t have Freja+, make sure to do your in-person check by 20 December at the latest.
Introduction
In order to comply with heightening standards around identity security, we have made the decision to end support for non-biometric IDs in Freja: the Swedish driving license and Tax Agency ID card on 21 December 2026.
This means that from this date people will be able to choose to register from the following supported IDs in Freja:
- Swedish passport
- Swedish National ID card
- EU/EEA national ID cards
- Foreign biometric passports
Are You Affected?
Users registered with biometric IDs are unaffected by this update.
If you are registered with a Swedish driving license or Tax Agency ID card consult the following table.

As shown in the table above, after 21 December it will no longer be possible
- to register with a Swedish driving license or Tax Agency ID card for new users, nor
- to get Freja+ by visiting an agent and completing the in-person security check.
Getting Freja+ will now be a completely remote process, completed by adding a biometric ID to Freja and passing our security check.
The process for foreigners getting Freja+ with a coordination no. remains unchanged.
