On 19 April 2022, the Swedish Police Authority introduced changes that require people who are booking their timeslot for getting their passport or national ID card to identify themselves with an e-ID such as Freja.
Identifying with an e-ID helps the police personalise each booking and provides them the opportunity to introduce other technical solutions in the future. Among possible improvements in the future are a better prioritisation system and shorter queues.
There are 3 solutions currently approved for use when booking your appointment for a passport or national ID card:
- Freja+
- BankID
- Mobilt BankID
The advantage with Freja is that people with protected identities can get Freja+. Additionally, there is a digital ID card in Freja that can be used for identification in pharmacies and for picking up packages just like with any ID.
How to Get Freja+
To get Freja+, you must first verify your identity in the Freja app with a valid ID document and photo. After that you may visit one of our agents for quick physical meeting. The list of available locations in shown in Freja.
We have a detailed registration guide that can guide you through the entire registration process.
Why Get Freja+?
Not only will you be able to log in to a large number of private and public services such as the Police, you will also have a digital ID card in the app formed from your data that you can use for identification instead of your ID document. It is accepted at over 5000 locations currently, with more on the way!
