In December 2022, Freja together with 13 organisations fighting for equality carried out a campaign with the name – “Alla ska med”. We told you about Annika who can’t apply for student aid, who can’t book an appointment in a care app, who can’t save money in funds, who can’t sign up for a flat, who can’t shop online and who can’t even call in sick if she needs to.
Why? Well, Annika – like every tenth person you meet – does not have the eID that the official services require. This is still a big challenge for many but things are slowly changing for the better.
The campaign received a lot of attention in media and since then both the authority DIGG and Sweden’s Municipalities and Regions (SKR) have officially said that they too think that all public e-services should offer login with all government approved eIDs, where Freja being one of them. The fight for digital inclusion continues.
One of the 13 organisations that supported the call “Alla ska med” was the Swedish Down’s Syndrome Association. Today, Tuesday 21 of March, is World Down Syndrome Day, something the UN has announced. The purpose of the day is to increase public awareness of Down syndrome.
In Sweden and in several other countries, World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated by Rocking the Socks. By wearing different socks, you are helping to draw attention to people with Down syndrome and to support equal value and rights of all people. Freja, of course supports this cause as well – Rocka sockorna – SvDf
