Freja+ is the highest security level in Freja and is needed to access certain e-services in Sweden such as the Tax Authority, 1177.se, the Police Authority etc.

If you do not have a valid personnummer and/or are not registered in the Swedish Population Register (Folkbokföringsregistret) then we cannot issue Freja+ to you.

Unfortunately, this is a government requirement that we must abide by.

If you have a protected identity, have a coordination number, or you are a Swede living abroad for fewer than 3 years you can get Freja+.

Government Regulations for Freja+

Freja is a government-approved e-ID, meaning the process for getting Freja+ is regulated by Swedish law. Among these requirements, the two most important for issuing Freja+ are:

  • The person must have a valid personnummer AND be in the Swedish Population Register (Folkbokföringsregistret);
  • They must come in for a quick security check in a physical location as an added layer of security.

If it weren’t for the first requirement, we would be able to issue you Freja+ after your security check.

We are working with the Swedish Agency for Digital Government to find a solution for this problem, so stay tuned.

You Can Still Use Freja

Even if you cannot have Freja+, that doesn’t mean that Freja cannot provide value for you! Freja is still the only mobile e-ID in Sweden that you can get with a foreign ID.

With a verified identity (with your photo and ID document) you still have access to some e-services in Sweden, as well as the digital ID card in Freja that you can use to prove your identity.
