What is ID theft
ID theft is a widespread problem in Sweden, so much so that many public authorities and financial institutions offer advice on how to protect yourself against it, including the Swedish Police, Skatteverket, Länsförsäkringar etc. A common method used by fraudsters is that they change the victim’s officially registered address and then take a loan out in their name.
Consequently, an ID protection industry has arisen in Sweden addressing this very issue – credit card blocking, detecting identity theft, 24 hour support with advice on how to protect yourself from identity theft, just to name a few. Unfortunately, most of these services require some sort of fee.
While there is no foolproof way of protecting yourself completely, it is prudent to have at least some sort of protection. We also have some tips on how you can protect yourself.

How ID Protection works in Freja
ID Protection in Freja alerts you whenever there is an unathorised change of your residential address, postal address or both. We will notify you through all channels available to us in Freja: via email and a notification and warning on your phone at least. If you have added your phone number or any additional emails to Freja, we will notify you there too.
Please note that Freja is not a blocking service, rather it alerts you of suspicious activity so that you can take timely and appropriate action such as blocking your debit card for example, or immediately contacting your bank. See here what steps you should take if you suspect that you are a victim of ID theft.
Also note that this only includes addresses that are registered in the Folkbokförings register in Skatteverket.
